I suppose it's fitting that my first post to this blog is a scratchy polyester tee. Not a fabulous fabric. But it was cheap, and we all have to start somewhere, right?
The pattern is McCalls 6571, a basic long sleeve tee with what looked like a slight cowl neck on the envelope pictures:
Only the cowl neck is pretty nonexistant on my shirt. Meh.
The pattern called for a facing on the neck. Why on earth would you want a facing on a tee shirt? My fabric was pretty thin and I had plenty of it, so I cut a second front piece to be a lining. Then I used bias tape for the back neck and sandwiched it in between the front layers.
Unfortunately winter arrived just as I finished this shirt, so I don't know when I'll wear it. It's too tight to layer anything under it, and definitely not warm enough to wear on it's own. One of my reasons for starting this blog was to motivate myself to make more wearable pieces. Does that make this a fail? I guess spring will get here eventually. Those mint green dots are really more of a spring thing anyway.
